TTAG–EAGA 14TH UNICOM QUIZ AND DEBATE COMPETITION, HELD AT THE MOUNT MARY COLLEGE OF EDUCATION.
Presbyterian Women’s College of Education (PWCE), Aburi–Akuapem, stood tall at the TTAG–EAGA 14th UNICOM Quiz and Debate Competition, held at the Mount Mary College of Education on Friday, 27th March 2026. As the only all-female college in the Greater Accra and Eastern Zone, PWCE made a bold and inspiring statement, demonstrating that excellence, confidence, and intellectual strength thrive in an environment that empowers young women. Competing alongside several other Colleges of Education, the team displayed remarkable resilience and unity, proudly projecting the College’s image as a centre of discipline, academic depth, and purposeful training.

One of the most outstanding moments of the competition was PWCE’s dominant performance in the writing challenge, where the College emerged as the overall best institution. With the highest number of participants (12) and an impressive nine finalists, the College set a new standard of excellence. PWCE also secured 2nd and 3rd positions, winning major prizes, including a 32-inch television set valued at GHS 5,000, a mobile phone valued at GHS 3,000, and customised citations. In addition, other finalists placed 4th to 7th, each receiving certificates and special hampers. These awards are not only symbols of achievement but also valuable resources that can support academic work, digital learning, and research, while the certificates serve as important credentials that will strengthen students’ academic and professional portfolios.

The College’s success extended beyond the writing challenge. The debate team delivered an excellent performance, winning their preliminary contests with confidence and finishing as second overall, earning a 32-inch television set, a customised plaque, and a citation. The quiz team also performed creditably, maintaining a strong presence throughout the competition and demonstrating great potential. Altogether, these achievements highlight the College’s dedication to developing well-rounded students who excel both in and beyond the classroom.

In recognition of these remarkable accomplishments, the Principal of the College, Dr Mrs. Cynthia Anim, expressed profound appreciation to the team for bringing honour and visibility to the institution. She commended their hard work and assured them of special recognition during a general gathering at the College’s church service. She also pledged cash rewards to celebrate their success and motivate continued excellence. Beyond the awards, the event provided a valuable platform for networking and collaboration, as PWCE engaged with other institutions and stakeholders, opening doors for future partnerships through academic exchanges, seminars, and joint activities. This achievement not only celebrates success but also invites prospective students and partners to be part of a vibrant academic community where excellence is nurtured and proudly showcased.
