Financial Support Programme by Captain Solomon Quianoo at Presbyterian Women’s College, Aburi

We are delighted to share the success story of the Financial Support Programme by the Solomon Quianoo Educational Foundation held on January 26, 2024, at The Presbyterian Women’s College of Education, Aburi.

The Foundation is the brain child of Captain Solomon Quianoo, the distinguished Ghanaian pilot, who piloted the world’s biggest passenger aircraft, Emirates Airbus A380 to Ghana in 2018.  The foundation was birthed by the experiences the Captain had when he was sourcing for sponsorship to further his education.  He realised through the hard way, that most organisations would only sponsor people for short term gratification.  They would not go in for the long haul.

He therefore resolved to set up a foundation with a difference when he had the means; a foundation that would help address financial challenges of students. The aim of the foundation would be to help beneficiaries stand on their two feet.  He hoped these people would also in turn help others onto their feet. Through this process, he believed it would help make the world a better place for us all.

The event, which was graced by the Distinguished Captain and his friend Ambassador Daniel Osei, a brother of the Principal was a resounding success. It showcased commitment to education to empower the next generation.  This is because education is a transformational force that shapes futures and empowers individuals to make a positive impact on the next generation.

The Principal delivered an inspiring short address where she underscored the College’s commitment to creating an environment for educational growth. This is because of her strong believe that education empowers future generations.  Unfortunately, financial challenges of students impeded this goal; hence her dedication to sourcing for financial support for needy students which led her to the Captain’s Foundation.

Our Chairperson, Ambassador Daniel Osei, who first introduced the Distinguished Pilot to the College, acknowledged the collective effort of all in making the programme a reality and a resounding succeess. Captain Solomon Quainoo, in his short address encouraged students not to give up on their dreams but to be like him, to flutter till they fly which incidentally is the title of his book.  He shared insights and experiences in his life which was a source of motivation to both students and faculty alike.

Then came the presentation, he presented cheques to ten students and promised to double the number of beneficiaries in subsequent years.  He also donated copies of his book “Flutter Till You Fly” to the College.  The College also in appreciation of his wonderful support to the 10 selected students presented him with his portrait.

Long live PWCE, long live Solomon Quianoo foundation.
