APOWA 2001 Celebrates 25 Years of Completing College with Homecoming
The 2001 year group of the Presbyterian Women’s College of Education (PWCE), Aburi, has marked 25 years since completing their college education with a memorable homecoming celebration held from 7 to 9 August 2026. The three-day programme brought members of the year group back to their alma mater to reconnect, celebrate their shared heritage and give back to the College that played a significant role in their lives. As part of the celebrations, the alumnae engaged students in mentorship sessions, sharing experiences, insights and encouragement to inspire them in their academic and professional journeys. The reunion also featured a dinner, providing members with an opportunity to renew friendships and celebrate 25 years of shared memories and achievements.
The celebrations continued on Saturday with a health walk, followed by a health talk and medical screening exercise for members of the College community. The activities underscored the year group’s commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles and the general well-being of students and staff. Beyond the commemorative activities, APOWA 2001 made significant donations to the College, including four refrigerators and a projector, as well as supporting the provision of health screening services and a mentorship seminar. The donations demonstrated the year group’s enduring commitment to the welfare, development and sustainability of their alma mater and are expected to make a meaningful and lasting contribution to the College community.
The homecoming concluded on Sunday with members of APOWA 2001 joining the College community for a Thanksgiving Service, which coincided with the Commendation Service for the 2026 graduating year group. The service provided a fitting occasion for thanksgiving, reflection and celebration as members of the 2001 year group gave thanks for 25 years of God’s faithfulness since completing their education at the College. The sermon was delivered by Rev. Mrs. Mulberry O. Djan, a member of the 2001 year group and a Minister of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana. In his message, Rev. Djan encouraged the Congregation to recognise God’s faithfulness, remain committed to their calling and use their lives and achievements to make a positive impact on others.
The 25th anniversary homecoming by APOWA 2001 was therefore not merely a reunion but a celebration of heritage, friendship, service and gratitude. Through mentorship, health initiatives, material donations and fellowship with the College community, the year group reaffirmed its enduring bond with PWCE and its commitment to contributing to the institution’s continued development. The College expressed profound appreciation to APOWA 2001 for its warm fellowship and generous gesture, noting that the group’s contributions exemplify the important role alumni can play in supporting the growth and sustainability of their alma mater. The homecoming has consequently strengthened the relationship between the 2001 year group and the College while inspiring future generations of students to remain connected to and supportive of their alma mater.
