Presbyterian Women’s College of Education (PWCE), Aburi–Akuapem, has once again demonstrated academic excellence on the national stage through its outstanding performance in an essay competition organised by the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana as part of its 90th anniversary celebrations. The competition, which focused on the theme “The Role of the Pharmacist in Ghana’s Healthcare System: Achievements and the Way Forward,” attracted entries from tertiary institutions across the country. PWCE proudly presented three stSudents in the tertiary category, all of whom submitted well-researched and insightful essays reflecting both critical thinking and a deep understanding of national healthcare issues.

The highlight of the event was a remarkable double victory for the College, as two of its students emerged first and second overall in the tertiary category, winning GHS 3000 and GHS 2500 respectively. In addition to the cash prizes, the award winners were presented with Certificates of Honour, which serve as valuable recognition of their academic achievement and will be beneficial in their future academic and professional pursuits. The celebration, held in Akropong-Akuapem on 1st May 2026, was filled with excitement, recognition, and pride. The accompanying images capture these memorable moments—from the confident presence of the award winners to the vibrant atmosphere of the ceremony—offering a vivid glimpse into the spirit of excellence that defines PWCE.

Present at the event to support and celebrate the students were the Dean of Students, Mrs Philomina Brepo Anti; the Head of the Languages Department, Mr Stephenson Charkitey; and the Coordinator of the PWCE Media Club, Mr Kingsley Richard Appiah. Their presence reflects the College’s strong culture of mentorship and commitment to student success. These achievements, as reflected in the images, highlight the quality of training and guidance at PWCE and position the College as a nurturing ground for future professionals.

Beyond the awards and recognition, the event also provided a valuable platform for networking and institutional engagement. Representatives of PWCE interacted with stakeholders from academia, healthcare, and other corporate bodies, creating opportunities to build meaningful connections. These engagements have already begun to yield positive outcomes, with several institutions expressing interest in deepening collaboration through future dialogue, academic exchanges, and cooperative activities such as seminars and public lectures. This further strengthens PWCE’s vision of achieving academic excellence and actively contributing to national development through strategic partnerships.
